So moral of the story, this warning can happen for a variety of reasons and not due to an actually temperature. This made sense because the symptoms I was seeing was that the warning was going on when I was at low gear and under 30 miles but would go away once I picked up speed or if I was driving in sports mode. Because of this, it wasnt pulling in enough air in the engine. Lo and Behold I noticed that on the passenger side of the air intake valve, the clamp camp off so the valve was displaced. When the filters came in, I started working on it. I bought the car used and it came with an AFE cold air intake with oiled filters. So at that point I knew I had to replace the air filter was getting dirty. I was dreading going to the delearship you know the same spiel, try to replace the sensor, try this and that and after so called process of elimination and countless money its gets fixed (hopefully). In this case, I needed no special skills or tools and would have ended up paying $180-$270 in labor for a 30 minute job.I was getting the transmission temperature warning on my 2015 m4, took it to an indy shop, ran codes, check for common things and they said they couldn't identify the issue. It makes me not trust what I'm being told, and in some cases I suck it up because I know I don't have the skills or the tools to do the job myself. It just drives me nuts that such a simple job has to take several hours and cost so much in labor when it really isn't justified. I don't doubt that the techs there and at other dealerships are doing good work, and that had I taken my truck in that it would have been fixed perfectly. Thank you unreal 04 for your great post very well done but i am just sooo disappointed that someone would still be posting stealer when so much of our expert info comes from our hard working dedicated techs who slave away in dealers shops what a slap in the face!! tothese dedicated people who religiously monitor our forum and rescue so many of us thank you each and every one who continue to give of your expertiseSorry - I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers with my "stealer" comment. But I respect the techs here enough to keep my posts free of. Also the parts department is what gets to me. I would prefer to pay the techs directly if possible. While I agree the techs that come here to help us all out are awesome. Thanks for saving me $200-$300!It was my pleasure to help in whatever way I can. I doubt that was real, so I cleared it and will continue to monitor to see if it comes back. The tow/haul light stopped flashing, but check engine light was still on for the P0107 code. I'm not a mechanic, but it only took me 30 minutes to do the repair myself. Today I went to the dealer and bought the new sensor for $14.64 and 9 quarts of transmission fluid at $7.82/quart (ouch!). That's when I started searching this forum. I asked if it was a quick repair (should I wait or drop the truck off for the day)? They told me it would probably take half a day. I called the stealer and they made an appointment for me next week. Checked the codes when I got home and had P0713 and P0107. Tow/Haul light started flashing and check engine light came on. Thanks for the great tech post! Mine failed Thursday on the way home from work. Check for leaks around the pan and enjoy not having your Trans guage spike. Took me 9 Quarts which is what came out.ġ0. Clean up the Tranny pan and re-install bolts. Reconnect 2 wire harness make sure its on the right side where the harness lock is.Ĩ. Install the new sensor by inserting it in the same hole and rotateing counter clockwise. FYI Get out of the way or your going to drink some fluid.ħ. Disconnect the 2 wire harness and with a pair of needle nose pliers rotate the TFT sensor clockwise with pulling down slightly. On the passengers side of the valve body in the front you should see the TFT sensor between 2 Solinoids. Lower the pan and be careful with the gasket it is re-useable.ĥ. Remove your Tranny pan by loosening 20x10MM that are around the edges.Ĥ. Purchase a new TFT sensor($14.49) and 8-10 Quarts of Mercron LV or SP ($4.49 per quart) at your local Ford Dealership.ģ. There were some quick posts about it but nothing with shiny pictures.ġ. Didn't see anything in the tech folder about this.
